Beach Folk Pottery

About the Artist

Duane Wright is a Métis artist living and working in Regina Beach, Saskatchewan. Originally from Saskatoon, Duane was born in 1951 and has maintained an active studio practice in the Regina Beach community since 1996.

He holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, with majors in Fine Art and English, and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art with distinction from the University of Regina.

Duane taught art at Campbell Collegiate, Martin Collegiate and Thom Collegiate in Regina. He also taught English at Henan Experimental High School in China.

His work has appeared in solo exhibitions at the Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre and in group exhibitions at the CBC Gallery, Joe Moran Gallery and Regina Public School Gallery. His paintings and prints frequently explore prairie landscapes, rural memories, wildlife and the character found in familiar places and aging objects.
